Michelle is determined to fight the assault charge. She insists she was defending her friend, but Emma doesn’t want to lie. Brian agrees, leaving Michelle angry and isolated. Brian is confused when Nige challenges him for the team name. He is angry at Brian’s ‘fishing trip’ betrayal and determined to make him suffer. Brian rises to the challenge and ups the ante – they’ll play for the name and the right to play at the Beagle. Brian has an unexpected ally in Cory. Mac and Catherine want to keep their relationship secret for now, and Mac is determined to teach Catherine classics of British comedy. But Michelle springs them and feels hurt and alone. Sad, she instructs her lawyer she won’t fight the charge. Brian pushes the team to swot for the showdown with Nige, but Michelle is absent and Emma, Catherine and Mac all have reasons for feeling guilty. After Michelle doesn’t return Mac’s calls, Catherine goes to see her while Emma is worried that Michelle has left her dogs in her care. Catherine breaks in to find Michelle has taken an overdose. She gets her to hospital and her friends pledge their love and support. Michelle gratefully goes to stay with Catherine. She tries to make her peace with Richard but he doesn’t think he can go back. Michelle and Catherine arrive at quiz night and Brian is pleased he doesn’t need Cory’s help. SOAS are winning so Nige tries to blackmail Brian with phone video of Brian’s behaviour on their fishing trip. Brian refuses to take a dive, so Nige sends the pxt to Emma. Brian and Nige have a final play off and Brian wins. But as he is congratulated and the team celebrate, Emma is upset and takes her leave. Brian realises there is big trouble in paradise.
