What's Hot Today

'Outlander's' leading men like Black Jack probably too much

Jamie and Frank are the two clear dreamboat men on "Outlander," but they're not the characters stars Sam Heughan and Tobias Menzies like the most. Nope, instead they think Black Jack Randall -- you know, the villain-- is the coolest dude around."I would love to be a Black Jack, absolutely," Heughan tells Zap2it."You maybe don't want to live with him, but you certainly want to watch him," Menzies rationalizes. "I think he'd cook very well. The apartment would probably be quite clean as well. There would be certain rooms you wouldn't be allowed to go into, that would be the only thing.""Outlander" returns on April 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Starz.PHOTOS: Stills from 'Outlander' Season 1...   Read More... //

The Most Important Shows on TV: Week of March 30, 2015

Which TV series will your friends (and the entire internet) be talking about this week? Stay informed—or at least be able to fake it—with SideReel's weekly guide to The Most Important Shows on TV.   The Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber Monday 10:00pm on Comedy Central Why: Because people who are paid to be mean (and funny) get to metaphorically whale on Justin Bieber, a shit-eating grin with a body attached. True story, a young person once said to me of Biebs, "I don't buy into the hype, I just think he makes good music." For corrupting the youth of the world, Justin deserves every insult he gets. Prepare to talk about: How many times Mr. B looks like he wants to cry but manages to hold it in; whose slams were the meanest (from clips, it sounds like it might be Hannibal Buress ); how soon until Bieber announces his retirement from public life; how much you hate Usher for subjecting us to this Canadian hellhound.   Outlander (Midseason Premiere) Saturday at 9:00pm on Starz Why: Because, as SideReel's own Zaz put it in her 5 Reasons We Love Watching: Outlander post, there's kilt porn, eye sex, and actual sex! Also the opening sequence is hilarious (A flute! A deer! Lady Druids!) and, hey, it's attractive people with sexy accents heaving their bosoms. Prepare to talk about: Whether Claire really misses her husband when she has Jamie to keep her company; how it seems pretty unlikely that one could look EXACTLY like one's ancestor; what's with that self-proclaimed witch; how many bosoms will heave in the second half of the season.     Mad Men (Midseason Premiere) Sunday at 10:00pm on AMC Why: Because all things must begin to end, and considering this is Mad Men (the most depressing story this side of a Chekhov play), it will almost certainly end badly. Things people have lost on this show: a foot, an eye, hair, spouses, jobs, innocence. Sigh. Can't one of these people just have a good goddamn day for once? Prepare to talk about: How Pete Campbell is the unsung hero of the show; whether Don's gonna die at the end of the season; whether Harry Crane should be fired (hint: yes); how Peggy is the best.     Leah E. 5 Reasons We Love Watching: Outlander

With Outlander —a (kind of?) time travel show set in 18th century Scotland, and based on the best-selling historical romance novels—Starz has their first real original hit... and it's one with a rabid (mostly female) fan base. Can you blame them? No. No, you can't, and so here are a few reasons why we are particularly pleased that Diana Gabaldon's intensely genre-bending books have hit the small screen: 5. War! Adventure! Castles! 18th-century Scotland! Prepare to be sucked in by the history and the gorgeous costumes. 4. Dinna fash, we got yer kilts, aye? Seriously, all the kilt porn you'll ever need. 3. Speaking of porn, there is some tremendous sexual tension between these two: 2. Not to mention actual sex, yowza! 1. But let's get serious y'all, it's all about handsome young virginal Jamie, whose many talents and virtues are too numerous to list. Basically just imagine an insanely hot Scot who is excellent in every way. Bonus: Caitriona Balfe's acting as Claire is superb. It is a crime that she has not had an Emmy nomination. div.reason h3 { clear: both; padding-top: 30px; } div.reason img { float: left; width: 400px; } div.reason p { clear: both; }
