SPOOKS Series 9 Episode 8 Review

The series 9 finale kept me engrossed, barely wanting to blink in case I missed something important. This was the episode where we got answers – why was Lucas doing all of this? What was Albany? How would it all end? The problem is that those answers weren’t very satisfying. After Vaughn’s death, Lucas had no real reason to get Albany, except to buy himself and Maya a new life elsewhere. With that goal in mind, he set up an elaborate scheme to track Harry Pearce, manipulate him into handing over Albany, and get away scot-free, while the rest of the team chased their tails. It was a fairly good plan. The addition of Alec White, a mostly unlikeable former agent who Beth takes an instant dislike to, was a good one. The problem is that we don’t see him actually do anything. He brings results, formulates theories, has Tariq carry out one of his plans, but we only see the results when he has little left to do, making everything feel very anticlimactic. I can only assume that he was brought in now to be carried over to the confirmed series 10. To Read More Click Here.

SPOOKS Season 9 Episode 7 Review

If this episode had a title it would have to be ‘Betrayal’. This week we finally get (most of) the story behind Lucas and Vaughn, enough that we at least understand what Lucas was trying to hide and just how desperate he really is. Meanwhile, Ruth spends the episode following up on a possible lead from a grieving council worker, while dealing with a reminder of the man she loved and lost. This finally gave us some solid headway in her relationship with Harry, as she can now tell him that she’s okay. She doesn’t blame him for her past love dying and she’s no longer grieving. But while this seems positive, it also emphasizes just how the job has warped her – warped all of them – into being unable to grieve. It’s a pretty sad situation. To Read More Click Here.

After the Taliban hack into a British portal and turn a US drone against its own base, MI5 have a lot to prove. The CIA want an upgrade to British computer system and so set about installing their own, Cybershell, in Thames House. To complete setup, they need codes input by an American civilian cryptographer, Danielle Ortiz. That’s where the fun begins. Everything they do and say is being observed, knowledge that is shared once Tariq initiates a fake-power overload which shuts down every system for two minutes. They try to figure out how to deal with the situation and eventually share information through classroom notes and a   tablet PC . It is decided that they’re trying to get into Cybershell. With the knowledge contained in this new top-notch secure computer system, the Chinese-Russian alliance would have the upperhand in every way. As Harry says, Britain and   America   would lose the cyberwar before it even began. To Read More ClicK Here.

Amphitrite - Jiang - was originally from China, but she's now a British citizen working for the Americans. With the help of double agent Kai, the Spooks find Jiang, but not without some hitches that deliver her into Chinese hands and make Kai look like a traitor to the UK. SPOOKS Series 9 Episode 2 Review

Episode 9.02 of SPOOKS finds the team trying to track down two gunmen who killed a group of businessmen in a lift. The catch? One of the survivors is none other than Beth, now part of the team and in the lift to track down an assassin. Whoever attacked the lift wanted the assassin dead - which means the initial target, an oil tycoon, may now be the man behind the murders. After a twisting, turning plot, which divides the episode into three viewpoints - that of Lucas, Beth and the assassin himself - the team eventually find out who everyone involved is and what theyâ??re up to. The awkward businessman theyâ??re keeping safe is actually the assassin, Beth once worked as an arms dealer in Colombia, and the two gunmen were Colombians sent there to kill her. The rest of the team only discover this after Beth and the assassin has killed them and dumped the bodies, however. Harry is most displeased. But Lucas asks Harry for trust, an A grade security clearance and the power to choose his own team. Harry seems happy with this, but he probably shouldnâ??t be. To Read More  Click Here .

SPOOKS (BBC) Series 9 Episode 1 Review

Series 9 of SPOOKS leads in smoothly from series 8, with the team attending the funeral of fellow agent Ros, who died in an attack in the last series finale. In the spirit of full disclosure I should tell you that I've only seen a handful of Spooks episodes over the last eight years. It's not a series I've ever sat down and watched avidly - and I really wish I had. Murder, terror plots and romance - what more could a series want? This episode focuses on a terrorist plan by a Somalian member of Al Qaeda. He's trying to transport explosives into Britain and it's up to undercover agents Lucas and Dimitri to stop him. However, things go a bit pear shaped and while both agents - and private contractor Beth Bailey - come out of things unscathed, the same can't be said for London. The twist of having the ship's engineer, the very same man we had just been sympathising with, supply the means for the terrorist attack was brilliantly jarring. Suddenly he was the enemy and it was no longer Dimitri in imminent danger but the UK itself. To Read More  Click Here .
