The Carrie Diaries Reviews & Ratings

60 minutes

It’s 1984, and life isn’t easy for 16-year-old Carrie Bradshaw. Since their mother passed away, Carrie’s younger sister Dorritt is more rebellious than ever, and their father Tom is overwhelmed with the responsibility of suddenly having to care for two teenage girls on his own. Carrie’s friends – sweet, geeky Mouse, sarcastic and self-assured Maggie and sensitive Walt – make life bearable, but a suburban life in Connecticut isn’t doing much to take her mind off her troubles. And even though the arrival of a sexy new transfer student named Sebastian brings some excitement to Carrie’s world, she is struggling to move on from her grief. So when Tom offers Carrie the chance to intern at a law firm in Manhattan, she leaps at the chance. Carrie’s eyes are opened wide at the glamour and grit of New York City – and when she meets Larissa, the style editor for Interview magazine, she’s inspired by the club culture and unique individuals that make up Larissa’s world. Carrie’s friends and family may have a big place in her heart, but she’s fallen in love for the first time with the most important man in her life – Manhattan.

A fun show, with wonderful acting, and an interesting insight into fashion and life through the life of a teenager. It was wonderful to watch but it only has two seasons! I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It was a shame to see this show get cancelled when it had really good potential to blossom into something greater. The casting choices were well made however the storylines at times were either too flat or simply dull. A great coming of age tale with good humor and drama but a mediocre take on the 80s lifestyle. The show however does provide major fashion envy. Recommend for under 16s

The CW hasn’t had a great track record with fun and interesting concepts. Still, they’ve kept me holding on with the work that’s been done on shows like Supernatural and Arrow. The Carrie Diaries tried to piggyback off of Gossip Girl’s end and bring us a new young girl rushing towards her destiny and desires in the big city.

AnnaSophia Robb plays a teenage Carrie Bradshaw just as she starts chasing her fashion dreams while also dealing with school and guys and girlfriends. It may not be as saucy as its adult counterpart, but it was adorable and plucky and a lot of fun to watch one of my favorite characters grow up.

I really thought this show was super cute! And accurate or not, I personally thought it gave great insight to how the young life of Carrie Bradshaw might actually have been. Granted as a fictional character i'm sure there was lots of room for interpretation. I however, enjoyed this show and was bumbed when they canceled it.

This show was cute, quirky and full of spunk. I love how it was set in the 80's cause we got to see a lot of fun fashion that I would totally love to see come back a bit more than it has. Anyway, I feel this show had more potential than people noticed and should have had at least 3 seasons. I enjoyed it and it was the perfect girly show I was needing. AnnaSophia Robb makes a great Carrie Bradshaw.
