Jon Stewart Makes Fun of Rick Santorum's Gay Marriage Analogies (VIDEO)

Rick Santorum has been on the campaign trail talking about gay marriage, and referencing the Defense of Marriage Act signed into law by President Clinton in 1996. On 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11:00PM ET on Comedy Central), Jon Stewart examined some of his analogies. "I can call this napkin a paper towel, but it is a napkin," Santorum said in one speech. "Why? Because it is what it is." Thirty minutes later, Stephen Colbert would be horrified to find out that napkins are apparently gay, but Stewart saw it as a slippery slope where we'd soon be using dogs to wipe our faces. //www.aoltv.com/2011/08/18/jon-stewart-mocks-rick-santorums-gay-marriage-analogies-video/

John Hodgman and Jon Stewart on How to Save Book Stores (VIDEO)

With the news of Borders going out of business, John Hodgman stopped by 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) to talk about the demise of brick-and-mortar book stores in this digital age. Where will all the condescending nerds go next, now that record stores, video stores and now book stores are going the way of the dodo? Phone stores, maybe? But Hodgman isn't willing to give up on bookstores yet. He presented some great ideas to stimulate interest in walking through those doors. For example, instead of author signings, he suggested author live writings. //www.aoltv.com/2011/08/17/john-hodgman-jon-stewart-how-to-save-book-stores-video/

'Daily Show' Sends Congress-Approver to Drink with Hoda and Kathie Lee (VIDEO)

After Congress earned a terrible 14% approval rating by the American public, 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) correspondent Samantha Bee set out to find one of the elusive people who actually think the legislative branch is doing a good job. She finally found him in the form of James Schmool. "You know that Congress isn't a water-skiing squirrel, right?" she asked him. But Schmool knew what Congress was, and he not only approved of their performance, he seemed to enjoy everything. He appreciated port-a-potties, 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark' and even Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb on the set of 'Today.' //www.aoltv.com/2011/08/16/daily-show-sends-congress-approver-james-schmool-to-drink-with/

The Republican Debate Goes Wild on 'The Daily Show' (VIDEO)

The city of Ames, Iowa should be braced for chaos as the Republican party descends for the Ames Straw Poll, a fact that 'The Daily Show' (weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) was only too happy to document last night. A number of 'Daily Show' correspondents reported live from "Ames" (or a green screen backstage) to highlight the different candidates' presentations, from Santorum's homemade peach jelly to Pawlenty's deep fried butter. //www.aoltv.com/2011/08/12/the-republican-debate-goes-wild-on-the-daily-show-video/

Jon Stewart and Larry Wilmore Discuss America's Debt on 'The Daily Show' (VIDEO)

The lights are on, China, but we're not home -- or so Larry Wilmore thinks we should pretend. The hilarious actor and "Senior Black Correspondent" for 'The Daily Show' (weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) dropped in to discuss Obama's presidency and the debt crisis with Jon Stewart, and he seemed to think that the best defense is a good offense hiding place when China comes to collect on the $1.16 trillion America currently owes them. //www.aoltv.com/2011/08/11/jon-stewart-larry-wilmore-discuss-americas-debt-daily-show/

Jon Stewart Talks About the London Riots on 'The Daily Show' (VIDEO)

Though the ongoing London Riots are no laughing matter for anyone caught in the middle of them, we can always count on 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart' (weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) to put things into perspective while still giving us a good chuckle. Jon Stewart summed things up fairly well in describing the escalation of violence: "As [the riots] spread through London and beyond, they became more rooted in proletarian rage/the desire for things stores normally make you pay for." //www.aoltv.com/2011/08/10/jon-stewart-london-riots-daily-show-video/

Jon Stewart Has a 50th Birthday Present for Obama, But it Kind of Sucks (VIDEO)

August 4, 2011 was the 50th birthday of President Barack Obama. It's a milestone worthy of celebration, which may be why Jon Stewart had a present for him on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). Unfortunately, it's probably not the kind of gift most of us would be lining up to receive. It was a box filled with clips from the various news outlets detailing the DOW plummeting, and the S&P 500 experiencing the 14th worst single-day point decline in its history. So, happy birthday? We couldn't take our eyes off of Stewart's eyes, though, as he tried to keep the package lined up properly so the blue screen magic would work and we could see the images properly. It was like he was looking into our very souls ... or maybe just below them. //www.aoltv.com/2011/08/05/jon-stewart-50th-birthday-present-for-obama-sucks-video/

'Daily Show' Responds to Survey Saying Congress Acted Like 'Spoiled Children' (VIDEO)

In a recent CNN/Opinion Research Corp. Survey, 77% of people said they felt that politicians acted like 'spoiled children' in the weeks leading up to the debt-ceiling vote. Obviously all that posturing didn't sit well with voters on either side of the political spectrum. On 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), Jon Stewart turned to his 'Analysis Mob' to break it down. Approval of Congress dropped to 14% in the poll, which lead Stewart to ask his analysts how they would describe the current climate in Congress. "Americans are a forgiving bunch," Jason Jones said. "I see Congress more as a bunch of monkeys, high-fiving each other in celebration, having forgotten that mere moments ago they were throwing their own feces." //www.aoltv.com/2011/08/04/daily-show-survey-congress-acted-like-spoiled-children-video/

Jason Bateman Is Frustated by the 'Arrested Development' Movie News Cycle (VIDEO)

Jason Bateman understands that fans of 'Arrested Development' are hoping for any update on the status of a film continuation. While he doesn't mind answering the questions about it everywhere he goes, because he appreciates the enthusiasm, he explained on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) that he gets a little irritated by how the media handles those moments. "Frustratingly, there's never really a significant update," he explained. "However, that doesn't stop the fringe media taking that ... writing a headline, 'Bateman Talks About "Arrested Development" and then you click through. [It reads,] 'There was no update.'" //www.aoltv.com/2011/08/03/jason-bateman-media-handling-arrested-development-film-video/

Jon Stewart Asks Why the Tea Party Is Still Angry After Debt Ceiling Agreement (VIDEO)

The debt-limit bill is working its way through the system and it looks like a big win for the Republicans and the Tea Party in particular. The debt ceiling is lifted, which means no default or lowering of our credit standing for the US, and it was done so with no revenue increases. So why aren't they happy, wonders Jon Stewart on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central)? After showing a reel of various Tea Party members in both houses of Congress saying it was "inadequate," and "not something I can support" because "we haven't gotten what we need," Stewart was dumbfounded. "What are you still angry about," he wondered. "Yes, government still exists. We still have traffic lights. We're sorry." And while the bill's passage will mean an end to the current crisis, we're pretty sure there will still be plenty for politicians to gripe over as we move toward the next one. //www.aoltv.com/2011/08/02/jon-stewart-why-tea-party-still-angry-debt-bill-video/
