The Mentalist Reviews & Ratings

60 minutes

A detective who can mind read--well, not really. However, Detective Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) does posses acute observation skills--skills he honed as a mentalist--and uses them to solve cases for the California Bureau of Investigation.

I was introduced to Simon Baker via this show. He's a good actor and keeps one hanging with his charm. Robin Tunney is just tolerable most times. The show got dragged on too long but it was a overall a decent series.

A seven season acting reel for Simon Baker! This show might resemble a investigation procedural but is more of a compelling study of its lead character. Great characters and interesting story-lines through the first six seasons and a final seventh season concludes a great television show from an era of similar successful shows like Bones, Castle, Chuck etc.

Years ago when I watched it, I loved it.
Though after they revealed Red John I felt like the show was just going in a meaningless direction.
Till then it's interesting seeing relationship between two main characters develop, but it's nothing super original that you wouldn't find in any other this type of series.

Simon Baker is fantastic in The Mentalist. It's a show you can't stop watching. Hopefully it will continue to be as good as it was when the show orbited around the pursuit of Red John.

Simon Baker successfully develops the character Patrick Jane in this detective series with a pleasant twist. The Mentalist proves not all "cop" shows need be the same. Enjoyable to watch and an excellent end written to the series.

About two seasons too long and the weird romance between Jane and Lisbon in the last two seasons felt forced and, honestly, a little creepy considering the brother-sister vibe I always got from them, and yet... and yet, it's a great series. Simon Baker is very watchable and the way he plays Patrick Jane is both brilliant and tragic. Definitely watch the first five seasons, the last two... meh
