Malcomson is sometimes credited as Paula Williams.

In 2007 Paula received an Emmy nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for Deadwood.

Paula got her first acting job by complete accident. She was working as bartender when director Michael Almereyda spotted and cast her in the award-winning experimental film, Another Girl Another Planet.

Malcomson claims that she gets her inspiration from "Dolly Parton and Irish whiskey".

She has done a lot of stage work, mainly at the Pacific Resident Theatre in Venice, California.

She explored Europe for a few years before settling in New York's East Village in 1991.
