The Rocker is a comedy which came out August 20th 2008. It stars Rainn Wilson, Christina Applegate, Teddy Geiger, Will Arnett, and Bradley Cooper. The story of a failed, over-the-hill drummer who is given a second chance at fame. Robert "Fish" Fishman (Rainn Wilson) is the extremely dedicated and astoundingly passionate (not to mention sweaty) drummer for the eighties hair band Vesuvius who is living the rock and roll dream until he is unceremoniously kicked out of the band. Unfortunately for Fish, this happens right before Vesuvius becomes one of the biggest bands in the world. Fish is then forced to get a real job and abandon his dream until an unlikely opportunity arises. Twenty years after getting booted out of the band he helped create, just when Fish has finally given up hope, all of his wildest fantasies come true. |

Judging by The Rocker's abysmal Box-Office performance this weekend (it opened at #12 with 2.8 million dollars)...I've got to ask:
What happened?
Was the movie that terrible? Is Rainn Wilson not a box-office draw whatsoever? Poor marketing?

More Information
Musician Robert "Fish" Fishman (Rainn Wilson) is fired from Vesuvius, a fictional 1980's hair band, before they become famous. The movie follows him as he gets a second chance at fame when he joins the garage band of his nephew Matt (played by Gad). His love interest (Christina Applegate) is the mother of the band's guitarist, Curtis (Teddy Geiger). Pete Best, a former member of The Beatles who suffered a similar fate, has a cameo role in the film as himself.
