Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Joss Whedon, one of the most critically-beloved television auteurs of the last 15 years, may finally have a TV show guaranteed to last more than 13 episodes. A spinoff of his hit film The Avengers, Agents will follow the adventures of the guys who work for S.H.I.E.L.D. who don't get to be superheroes — just average heroes. Longtime fans can expect a new platform for Whedon's trademark wit and complexity, and newcomers should enjoy the worldbuilding that comes with any comic enterprise.

Odd couple buddy cop shows are nothing new. Hell, odd couple buddy cop shows featuring Andre Braugher are nothing new (remember the decidedly un-comedic Homicide: Life on the Street?)! Add Andy Samberg into the mix, though, and there's the possibility that this one could be a hit. The man comes with a built-in fanbase from his work on SNL and with The Lonely Island, and if knows anything, it's how to wackify the quotidian.

The CW hit machine continues with this spinoff of its absurdly popular (even by CW standards) supernatural drama The Vampire Diaries. The Originals follows the adventures of a befanged fellow named Klaus & Co. as he heads down to N'awlins to regain his rightful place as King of the Vampires! For some reason New Orleans is just THE historical place for vampires, but hey, why fix what ain't broke?
