Cameron's Closet is a visually stunning,"nightmare" horror film about a 10-year-old boy who develops supernatural powers as the result of his father's experiments on him. Cameron Lanson (Scott Curtis) goes to live with his mother after his father (Tab Hunter) dies in a car crash. While with his mother he inadvertently unleashes a monster and does battle with it with the aid of a psychiatrist (Mel Harris) and a cop (Cotter Smith). The story is confusing and not very logical, but the demons, produced by special-effects wizard Carlo Rambaldi, and the very gruesome deaths are sure to please fans of the genre. While the very similar Dreamscape was far better in its exploration of psychological and supernatural terror, Cameron's Closet with its fabulous special effects has much to recommend it.
