Takuma Hirose, a blind young male high school student, though the cause for his blindness is undetermined. After his mother died an unexpected death, it left a deep emotional scar on him, which caused him to become very lonely and reserved. Due to this, Takuma move from the city out into a rural area and Takuma is enrolled into a new high school. At his new school, he meets several new girls, though three of whom he gets to know the most out of anyone else. They are, the firm and obstinate Hayami Kohinata, the kind and obliging Hinata Kagura, and the cheerful and mysterious Otoha. As Takuma interacts with these girls, his medical condition gradually begins to heal.

Takuma suffers from a mental trauma that causes his mind to return to his childhood stage…to the time when his mother was still alive. He now thinks that Hayami is his mother. Hayami and Takuma is to return to Takuma’s old home where he and his real mother once lived because the doctor recommended that it is best for Takuma to be living in the same environment that his mental state is in. The life of Hayami being Takuma’s mother goes on, while Takuma still have bits and pieces of memories of the true Hayami. While returning from the grocery store Takuma and Hayami came upon a railroad track; attempting to heal Takuma’s mental trauma, Hayami recreates the scene when Takuma’s mother’s accident occurred. By sacrificing herself, Hayami made Takuma realize that Takuma’s mother did not commit suicide, but was killed by trying to save Takuma who had wondered on the train track after a volleyball. At the end of the episode, it is shown that Takuma returned to the village and built a windmill on the hill where he first met Hayami. As soon as he finishes the windmill and his uncle leaves, Takuma meets Otoha in a younger state. Otoha then tells Takuma that she managed to convince the Spirit Committee to bring Hayami back to life. Hayami meets Takuma with the bell strapped on her neck, and together upon that hill, they gaze to the sky.
