Discuss Glee: Are You Hooked? - Featured

Fox previewed new series Glee following American Idol last night which is being billed as a comedy, but frankly, is difficult to attach to any single genre.

Part musical, part comedy, part drama - the show has tinges of Fame, Election, Freaks & Geeks and more.

Personally, I loved it and will eagerly await its return. If you didn't have a chance to watch, I highly recommend watching it now. Don't forget, this was just a one-night preview. No new episodes until Fall, where it will settle in on Wednesday nights.

For the curious, the special preview attracted around 10 million viewers, which is good, but not great, especially following American Idol.

So...will you be returning for more Glee in the Fall? What did you think?

I am in love! I thought this Glee preview delivered just the right amount of quirkiness without too much cheesiness, and some really great characters. I'm nervous for its survival airing this "preview" episode so much earlier than the rest of the series, but maybe that means more fans will be able to catch this episode over the boring summer months and then will be rearin' to go for much more in the fall. Here's crossing my fingers for this one to not be forgotten by fall and stick around long after that.

cant wait for it to return its just ripped high school musical a new you know what hope the songs are just as good as they were in the preview

Although the actors seemed a little old to be playing high school students, I completely bought the act. Glee was exciting and upbeat. I was tapping my toes to the songs with a smile on my face. I can not wait for it to be on in the fall. Definitely added to my list of top five.

love the show, can't wait for it to return this fall. Come on...a show with several Journey songs, plus other greats...what more can you ask for? I hope their song choices stay with this kind of standard in the fall.

Really liked it!! Can't wait for it to come on full time! Hope it survives its first season and hope it does air on the too dramatic side of things. Really reminds me of Freaks and Geeks, wish that wasn't canceled - loved that!

I loved Glee so much! It was funny and musical, a perfect combination for me. I am so excited for it to start in the fall, what a cruel way to tease us! I've already rewatched the pilot five times haha.

I loved it. And I'm so looking forward to hating the cheer/churchgroup-leader. She looks like the bitchiest, christian high school queen I've seen since Saved - (a really funny movie fyi)I really liked them letting their leading lady be who she was - a tad egoistic and maniacal - but believable. I actually found it a bit unbelievable with idol and all that, that there weren't more egocentric tantrums going on. But oh well. I loved it.

I was so surprised when I watched the first episode, especially since it is from the same guy who brought us Nip/Tuck. It was funny and refreshing compared to some of the other new shows this season.
I'm just amazed that I actually like a remake of a Journey song.

i thought the show was great, it was quirky, smart and fun and had a great soundtrack...unfortunatly in our society when people have to think about something they dont like it so basically a quirky smart show in doomed from the beginning ..........anybody remember ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT one of the best written shows on television got cancelled after 3 seasons because people didnt understand it .........even tho it wasnt hard because literally every line in that show was a joke refering to something else

I completely agree. Let's all hope this show turns into a huge hit and not another cult classic canceled to early and only making money from season 1 DVD sales

It was really good, and i wasn't expecting much.
'Don't stop believing' can make any show good though.

Even though it is a musical, it was a very captivating show. Most people wouldn't be too interested in it but it really captures attention.I am very excited for the fall when we get to see more. I was very annoyed how there was just the pilot and that i couldn't watch more. I hope it will be a great hit. but i'm worried that it won't last

I honestly cannot stop listening to the version of Don't Stop Believin' by Journey. It's such a great arrangement, and there's so much talent there. Especially with the Broadway star, Lea. It delivers the right amount of elation, quirkiness, and conflict that gets you hooked. I think its mix of genres also has a capacious part in reeling you right into the show. I am eagerly awaiting its return and have faith that it will continue to be all that the Pilot was and more.

Omg!! Cutest show ever! I loved it!And they sang the song at the end really well, I can't wait for the second episode!!!

The first ep. was too much background and does not really get going until the last 5 minutes. I think I will enjoy the show, but I believe it has already hit troubled waters.
The show presents a clear goal in the first ep., win state. Once that goal is met, the show is likely to fell like it's run its course. Barring some genius writing, I don't think the show well make it pass 100 eps.
Just may be the music will carry it...but then again, maybe not.
