South Park Season 14, Episode 2: "The Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs" Review

This episode brings us a reference to the historically controversial Catcher in the Rye. It's somewhat of a timely mention since J.D. Salinger died a couple months ago. But this was not really an homage: it's mostly about people reading into meanings that don't exist.

The boys quickly discover that Catcher in the Rye is tame in today's standards (hell, it was even tame by yesterday's standards). So the boys, upset with J.D. Salinger's inability to appeal to their thirst for smut and vulgarity, go off and write their own book with the intent of being as gross as possible. In a hilarious turn, Mr. and Mrs. Marsh actually find the book entertaining, although it disgusts them to the point of frequent vomiting.

The writers wore out the vomiting meme quickly. Very quickly. It was already old within the first 5 minutes of the episode, but it just kept going. Puking takes up an incredibly high amount of screen time here. There's really not much story here, just one long-running "joke" that was just plain awful.
