You know it's 9:30 Thursday night on NBC, when a Mad Man, Zack's Porno-Accomplice, a Hair-Metal rocker from the Garden State, and two SNL veterans all share the screen.
Good evening, America. My name is Adam Mersel, and it is officially my second week recapping the world that is 30 Rock. If you know what I'm referring to in the above paragraph, congratulations: You must be as big a junkie as I am (which, by the way, is borderline unhealthy - and totally worth it). If you're dazed and confused, don't fret. I will explain below for all of you rookies.
It wouldn't be 30 Rock without a slew of special guest stars, and this week's was far from an exception. Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Elizabeth Banks (Zack and Miri Make a Porno), Jon Bon Jovi (of Bon Jovi), plus Jason Sudeikis and Horatio Sans (SNL) all appear, along with the show's usual players, for a hilarious Valentine's Day-themed episode, full of the usual belly-laughs and spit-takes.
The episode opens with Liz describing how Valentine's Day is a "sham created by card companies," and one in which she watched her boyfriend's mother die in the past year. As Jack tries to console the young, now scared child who asked Liz the meaning of the holiday in the first place, Liz declares February 14 Anna Howard Shaw Day, in honor of the great leader of the woman's suffrage movement.
