30 Rock Season 4, Episode 2: "Into the Crevasse" - Review

- After watching "Into the Crevasse," I thought to myself, "How am I going to write about that?!" I mean, 30 Rock has always been the type of show to pack in as many laughs, and as many types of laughs, as they possibly could in one half hour. Thursday night's episode seemed to double that amount and did so in such a ridiculous variety of ways that it was difficult to keep track. Suffice to say, I loved this episode. I hardly have any idea what was going on, but I loved it.

Of course, I'm exaggerating a bit about not knowing what was actually going on. Jack had to report to a government taskforce responsible for doling out bailout money in regards to the microwave oven division of GE. Rival Devon Banks-- the always-entertaining Will Arnett-- was leading the taskforce. Jack was not going to take a handout from Obama, so that meant he needed to turn the microwave oven industry around in three days or shut down the company. Meanwhile, Jenna was passive-aggressively taking out her anger on Liz for looking into adding a new cast member by agreeing to star in a werewolf movie filming in Iceland. To add to Liz's troubles, Tracy was accusing her of stealing his life to write her "Deal Breaker" book and was threatening to sue. In the end, all was solved with pornography.

That's as straightforward as I think I can make the summary. If you saw the episode, you know that there was even more going on, including Kenneth and a parade of puppies. Of course, the actual plot is only the structure around which the comedy can be formed, and there wasn't a moment in "Into the Crevasse" that didn't have me laughing. Jack and Devon in attack mode was hilarious. All their face-to-face conversations had me rolling. Their arguments were the best: "You don't tell me what pizza to like!" "The only headline will be 'Donaghy Saves GE, comma, Marries Your Mom." Jack making a "laser shield" was perfection. And their conversation resolving the issue was classic: "You'd have to take it. I'd make you. I'd make you take it all." "I'd roll over and let you give it to me." "I'm honestly not trying to make this sound gay." "No one is, it's just happening."
