Secret Diary of a Call Girl: Season Finale Review

Showtime ran the last two episodes of Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Season 3, together to close it's quick eight episode season in just seven weeks. Episodes 7 and 8 were stand-alone episodes that took elements from the previous six, but really formed their own conflict and resolution in a clean one-hour slot. It wasn't clear why Showtime made such quick work of Billie Piper's possible last season as London Call Girl 'Belle Du Jour,' but it is likely that this moderately well-received British import has hit its stride with American audiences and they had to put everything out there just to get that final jab at the ratings before United States of Tara puts the last nail in their late night line up.

"Episode 7" focused on Belle Du Jour/Hannah Baxter and her shift from call girl to paying customer. Belle decided that the final chapter in her second novel should be written from the perspective of a person that pays for sex (rather than one who gets paid for it). Hence, the episode opened at 'Connor's' East Side loft. Connor was of slim-build and was an attractive man. At first, Hannah didn't tell him that he was merely research, instead, she was just as awkward and shy as most of her own first-time clients.
