Doctor Who: 'Cold Blood' Review Season 5, Episode 9

Following last week's 'The Hungry Earth', an episode of Doctor Who in which virtually nothing happened, 'Cold Blood' concluded the intriguing Chris Chibnall-penned two-parter with an episode in which, amazingly, even less actually happened.

Still, we're not going to stamp fists at losing 90 minutes of precious Who time to a story which can be summed up thusly: Earth-dwelling aliens, the Silurians, terrorise a group of bemused Welsh villagers in order to reclaim the planet but then nobody does anything significant and everybody agrees to sort it all out later. Yes, it might only have delivered a scant episode's worth of story but we genuinely enjoyed its atmospheric build-up and more thoughtful tone.
