For a lot of fans of The Next Food Network Star, it was her frustration - not her cooking or showmanship - that sent Jamika packing on the last episode. The 30-year-old Atlanta native for her part didn't deny that it was indeed her disgruntled comments that might have spelled her downfall on the show.
"As far as the comments I made, I tend to come off that way when I am focused--that does not mean I was upset. Also, I am the type of woman that if you ask me how I am feeling, I will tell you flat out! And if I love something, I will let you know ten-fold!"
Yet after her stint on The Next Food Network Star, Jamika revealed that she's now on the lookout for something beyond cooking.
"I have definitely been bitten by the TV bug. I love to entertain, make people laugh. I have not given up on having my own show. I am just getting started! I would love for the show to focus on not only cooking, but fashion and lifestyle."
On the last episode of The Next Food Network Star, Jamika lost it on the Red Lobster seafood challenge when she told the judges that she was both "pissed" and "irritated." Susie Fogelson told her that that attitude is not going to work. While Jamika said she considered her the "toughest" judge, she said that the Food Network honcho saw something in her and tried to make her "let it shine."
"She was riding me during the taping because she saw something in me that was not coming out on camera. She was always saying things like "Bring it, girl! We know you got it!"
