Cancellation News: Lipstick Jungle and My Own Worst Enemy

Perhaps the repeated usage of this image was a bad omen.

This news really hurts.

Two of the shows in SideReel's Cancellation Danger Zone - My Own Worst Enemy and Lipstick Jungle - have not even survived the week; NBC has axed them both. Guess the source that claimed Jungle was on the verge of cancellation last week wasn't lying.

It still is not clear whether NBC will air the remaining episodes that have been filmed of each series; Enemy is currently in the middle of filming its 9th episode (4 have aired) and Jungle has filmed 13, seven of which have aired. Both shows have been dropping in the ratings these last few weeks. In their most recent airings, Enemy received 4.3 million viewers and Jungle received 3.3.

Which cancellation stings more for you? I personally had grown rather fond of Jungle...

I couldnt agree more with TYRA, when do those tv excecutives finally understand, that the future of tv is the web anyway and by the way the future is already here. otherwise sites like surfthechannel, SIdereel and Ninjavideo wouldnt be existing ? There 100.000ds of people watching streaming videos every single day, why dont they start counting those numbers, I am sure the rating would be high enough to safe shows like Lipstick Jungle, New Amsterdam and Moonlight. I thought that Joss Whedon has taught them a great lesson by turning his tiny low budget selfproduced mini series "Dr. Horribles Sing-Along-Blog" into a HUGE worldwide success in beeing nr. 1 on i-tunes in several countries for the series AND the soundtrack. In the future, people will subscribe on the net for their favourite show and that takes the power out of the hands of corporate companies and into the hands of the artistic creators. Better watch out you networks, you are dinosaurs and you know what happened with them, they just dissappeared... In memorandum of FIREFLY...

putting a show on friday is suicide, just like putting one on monday with all the competition. right now i'm also worried because my shows on monday are in danger of cancelation also, they should have tried moving lipstick to wed......fri is date/movie night. i hope there are enough fans to bring this show back....i want to see the storylines have a descent ending.

why dont they just good marketing advisors! I mean i'm almost scared to watch new shows because I'm left in the middle of nowhere when they just get axed! Guess they should start to do mini series just like the starter wife or True Blood. Anyway I love love love True Blood and have been encouraged since the beginning that a second season was on the way, plus the books that inspired the show help to make the link between each show episode ! HBO rocks !

I am SOOOO distraught to see Lipstick Jungle go! I have been watching it from day one and am addicted to this show! I think putting a show on Friday is suicide but that didn't stop me from watching it!! This show will be missed by many! Sad to see it go! Wish NBC would give it a little longer! as far as the other show...I never watched it so makes no difference to me!

when i first head about MOWE i wasn't very interested. Then i found out it had Taylor Lautner in it and started the first three episodes - and was hooked. I can't believe they're just axing it... after all Taylor's hard work!!On the bright side, no he has time to buff up for New Moon...

wtf!? i never watch shows on tv anymore, or when they are actually airing i watch them on dvr or tivo or online... they need to find better ways to calculate who is watching the shows because i really don't think they're numbers are right, i think that a lot of people enjoy the shows that are being cancelled and that the networks are really jumping the gun fast and canceling shows, usually they wait longer to see how things will go ughso frustrating!

well then, i suppose all that's left is to cross our fingers and prey... either way, 6 episodes would basically be to the beginning of the holiday season, so logically speaking it'd be smart to keep it on for the sake of having something new to fit the time slot... at least i hope so, but then again i may be trying to rationalize it to the point of delusion, lol.

I really like lipstick Jungle, I don't watch TV only to see realistic situations, I watch to be entertained. THey have left me hanging from episode to episode, it's not edge of my seat but it makes me watch it each week. I am disappointed that it's being cancelled.

Sadly, cosmo, the answer to that is no...but, there obviously are still those 6 unaired episodes of the 13 episode order that have already been filmed.Perhaps the show sensed its imminent doom and had Ep. 13 finish up with some kind of a satisfying conclusion. This is my own speculation/hope.If these remaining episodes don't air on TV (which is still unclear if NBC is going to air them)...I'm sure there will eventually be a DVD release. We'll just have to wait and see.

The cancellation of Lipstick Jungle really sucks! It is/was a great show. Guess the powers that be just couldn't stand a show about 3 powerful women. NBC should definitely re-think the decision to axe one of it's most promising new shows.

I really felt like Lipstick Jungle was coming into its own this season - it's really too bad it didn't get a chance to continue that! And My Own Worst Enemy, well... let's just say that's for the best. Sorry, Christian Slater.

This is my truth. Of the list of shows in danger of being cancelled that i saw a week ago. I put these two at the top. truthfully i have never seen or thought about watching these shows. i juts knew that the way they presented them and advertised them that they would be cancelled. i will say this though of the shows that were in danger. pushing daisies seemed to me to be the least likely to be cancelled.i still think knight rider should at least be on the list of shows to be cancelled.

I started out watching Lipstick Jungle; the whole first season, then just sorta lost interest a couple of episodes into the second season. As for My Own Worst Enemy.. I won't be too sad to see it go, but I have been keeping up with the episodes when they air. I'm starting to like it... but not 100% into it. As for Journeyman, I liked that show! I was sad to see it go.

It's too bad they don't take internet viewership into consideration when deciding to continue or cancel a show. Television ratings are already outdated as a measurement of success as more and more people are finding different ways to see the shows they love.

Jungle was okay, but I felt they jumped the shark a bit with Charles, making him a bad guy, then conveniently dying, to justify his wife's adultry. However, I was getting into My Own Worst Enemy, and I'll be sorry to see that go. It was a good concept that barely had any time to get off the ground and establish a following. It's as bad a Journeyman. They get us interested, then axe it after we have time invested.
