Human Target still has some innovation in it, despite the propensity to deal with old TV tropes. This week's episode is a non-linear story that started with a mysterious fellow in a subway station about to get mugged by a rather nervous looking mugger. The victim is far from helpless though, and he disarms the guy without so much as batting an eye. His face is pretty banged up, and soon our man Chance (whose face is also worn and torn) takes a seat next to him. The rest of the story goes through telling us how these two guys ended up bruised and bloody, and the intriguing connection between them.
First off, I have to say this is one of the better episodes in a series that has already had some fantastic stories. There are few flaws here, and the ones that do exist are minor.
FBI Agent Emma Barnes (Emmanuelle Vaugier) from the "Embassy Row" episode returns. Also, there's a new addition to the team, Layla (Autumn Reeser), the cute systems administrator gal from "Lockdown". This pair of old faces bring some new elements to the episode and help balance out what is usually a male-centric cast.
