Several reports have now surfaced that Wes Hayden, the country singer from Texas who serenaded Jillian Harris in the premiere episode of The Bachelorette, has other ulterior motives besides finding love. Wes was one of the men who actually made quite a good impression on me but after watching the second episode of the ABC reality dating series, I'm inclined to think otherwise.
If you missed last night's episode, you can read a recap in this article. But in a nutshell, Jillian chooses Wes for some alone time and blatantly points out why he deserves to have a rose and stay in the running. Apparently, Jillian thinks that Wes is a total hunk and that he's got some of the things she's looking for in a partner. Sure, Wes is not bad to look at and having a country music career is certainly a bonus. But the fact that her intuition tells her that "there's something about him that makes her feel that she needs to protect herself a little bit" should be enough of a warning.
Perhaps it's because of envy but a lot of the men on The Bachelorette also think that
Wes isn't on the show for the right reasons. Ed doesn't really see any real connection between Jillian and Wes, and if there is, he's inclined to believe that it's all fabricated. Tanner P., on the other hand, also questions Wes' motives.
Although this is a competition, you can't really blame the men for having doubts about Wes, who recently released a single, "You Still Get Me" from his album Full Circle. His MySpace site also states the Wes Hayden band will tour much of 2009. Moreover, Wes has written a song for Jillian but admittedly won't be able to finish the lyrics until he's gotten to know her better.
