"My people use humor to diffuse situations," said Jon Stewart on 'The Daily Show' (weeknights, 11PM ET on COM). And that's exactly what Elena Kagan did, when the Supreme Court nominee was questioned about her religion and her upbringing in Manhattan.
"You have a very different belief system than most of the people who come where I come from," said one senator during the committee hearing. Stewart translated several senators' comments, saying, "Let's just cut to the chase: You're a Jew."
Another senator asked, "[The] Christmas Day bomber -- where were you at on Christmas Day?" Kagan replied, "You know, like all Jews, I was probably at a Chinese restaurant." Boom!
