Did Simon Cowell speak too soon? Though the acid-tongue Brit says all four American Idol judges will "absolutely" return next season, Paula Abdul remains uncertain.
"I don't know [if I'll come back]," Abdul tells WAPE radio. "I love my job. I've been invited for the duration of however long Idol lasts, but, you know, I'm considering other options because so many wonderful things are becoming a real chance for me to really actualize and do."
Abdul, whose contract expires at the end of this season, did not specify what those options were, but was hopeful her multitasking ways would allow her to stay on the Fox juggernaut.
"I've been one to wear many hats and have many different career paths going at the same time. ... If it all works out, then it would be joyful for me to be able do it all," she says.
The fates of all four judges have been question marks in recent weeks, especially in the case of fourth judge Kara DioGuardi, who was signed on for one season. Abdul says she has "no idea" if DioGuardi will return.
Abdul, who headlined the reality show Hey Paula, also says she would like to put her reality show days behind her - unless a certain show comes a-knockin'.
"I'm done with reality shows. There's really no other reality show - actually there's one reality show that is wonderful to watch - Dancing with the Stars," she says. "[I'd do it] over Hey Paula."
Of course, it would have to be as a judge. Professional dancers are barred from competing.
