Hoping to wipe away the memories of the campy-at-best Judge Dredd from 1995 starring Sylvester Stallone, a new adaptation of the 2000 AD comic-book character is on the way. We first reported on the new version back in December 2008 and in September of last year, we heard that writer Alex Garland (28 Days Later) had turned in a 'great' script, which Pete Travis (Vantage Point) will direct. For those who aren't familiar with the property, it revolves around a group of enforcers known as 'Judges'Â who serve as police, judge, jury and executioner. Dredd and his fellow Judges are empowered to arrest, sentence and even execute criminals on the spot. It's brutal, but think of the savings to taxpayers! (Obviously, I'm being sarcastic, but the comic actually feature a good deal of ironic humor.)
