Personality clashes, backstabs and brutal honesty prevailed during the dreaded Group Round of Hollywood Week on "American Idol." Read on for the blow-by-blow account!
Working late into the night to prepare a group routine due the following day, the remaining 104 hopefuls teamed up in trios or quartets of their choosing -- and loud notes of disharmony immediately became audible.
"It's just going to be an absolute trainwreck," predicted Rose Flack, who ended up on Team Diva with "Bikini Girl" Katrina Darrell. Sleep starved Katrina made waves for abandoning her teammates at the 4 a.m. mark, retiring to bed sobbing and conceding defeat. "If she does decide to perform, she's probably going to make a fool of herself in front of everyone," Rose said.
Meanwhile, within another squabbling squad, Tatiana del Toro contemplated jumping ship. "They are throwing me under the bus," Tatiana complained of her teammates. She proceeded to join another group, but then had second thoughts and returned to her first flock -- which only served to infuriate both teams.
After a long night filled with in-fighting -- and perhaps two-to-four hours of sleep, tops -- the groups presented themselves to the judges.
"I guarantee you lot did not work together last night," Simon told Team Diva after they attempted Duffy's "Begging for Mercy." "I have scoliosis and I was sitting on the floor and my back was hurting and I'm so tired," explanied Bikini Girl Katrina. The judges ousted her; and two of her teammates.
Then Tatiana's team took the stage. After performing The Jackson Five's "I Want You Back," Tatiana continued to sing in an attempt to impress the judges. "None of that today!" Randy bellowed at her. Ultimately, however, all four ladies on the team advanced.
And at the very end of the Group Round, Ryan Seacrest said about 75 percent of the contestants made it through to the final day of Hollywood week. Who will make the Top 36? Tune in to next week's "American Idol" to find out!
