Cancellation Buzz: NBC's Heroes Will Fly Again, but Knight Rider Is Out of Gas - Featured

Some of this TV season's "bubble shows" are starting to pop, while others continue to ride the fence - or even safely hop off.

Case in point: Despite sagging ratings and amid backstage upheavals, Heroes will fight another day. The Peacock's onetime pride and joy is likely to return in the fall for 18 to 20 episodes, NBC entertainment president Angela Bromstad told the Hollywood Reporter, though an actual pick-up order has yet to be placed.

One thing playing in Heroes' favor is that it performs well for NBC overseas. "Every single place you go has heard about Heroes - whether you're in China or Japan or Russia," Bromstad notes. (Are Peter and Nathan subtitled when Heroes plays in Tokyo? Discuss.)

Heroes could be paired on Mondays with Day One, a serialized drama pilot about the survivors of a catastrophic event.

On the other hand, Knight Rider (2008) will not be returning for another spin in the fall, sources tell TVGuide.com. The reboot of 1980s series drew just 5.76 million viewers with its Wednesday-night finale, a 21 percent drop-off from its September premiere. And this despite some retooling along the way.

An NBC rep had no comment on KITT's rumored garaging.

I never watched the remake of Knight Rider till I watched the movie, and even though it was cheesy, I gave the TV show a go and enjoyed it. It was just something you'd watch on a Sunday afternoon, I wouldnt buy the DVDs but I enjoyed it enough to watch every week.....so i hope they are given another season!! Here in the UK we hardly ever get the good shows, unless you have Sky or time to watch online.

Okay. First off, never watched Knight Rider. Never cared. Heroes I am glad to see is coming back. The comment on here about the stale acting and forced dialogue I only have this to say. It was because the writers and director and staff had no clue what they were doing. With the return of Bryan Fuller to the writing staff I noticed that was when the show redeemed itself. Unfortunately Pushing Daisies had to be canceled for him to return but he did and the show is worth watching. I am glad I stuck with it.

heroes is sick i dont know what ur talkin abt, and anyways knight rider is done, it only had a 17 episode contract, so stop whining abt it!

@Murch, if it was playing in Tokyo, They wouldn't need to do the subs for Hiro and Ando, but Nathan and Peter would be talking a foreign language. It's a joke based on the reversal of the usual situation. :P Also, Heroes is getting watchable again, if only they got rid of Claire and all the pointless exposition.

"Did you mean Hiro and Ando?" The mistake was in the original, but yeah, I was thinking "wtf?"; this makes a lot more sense, LOL.

"(Are Peter and Nathan subtitled when Heroes plays in Tokyo? Discuss.)" Did you mean Hiro and Ando?
| 18:39 EST, 05 Mar, 2009
noo... I just started watching Knight Rider a few days ago.. I was sceptic at first thinking it was shit, but when I found nothing else to watch I gave it a try.. and I LOVE IT!! So nooo don't cancel... they cancel all the shows I really love... maybe I should start fake loving shows and maybe they get canceled so they wont cancel the shows I love. ... I'm a bit a a sugar rush.. sorry for that :)

with such promising news of a cancellation for heroes as of recent, this is highly depressing. was hoping they could lay that pile of trash to rest. not trying to start shit, just being blunt. I just don't see how anyone can get into the stale acting and forced dialogue that is heroes.
| 16:30 EST, 05 Mar, 2009
Im glad Knight Rider is over. Good riddens

i have noticed whilst i have been on this site watching shows that come from the states that a lot of them don't seem to last very long i don't know what you Americans want shows like Eli stone, knight rider ,law and order trial by jury and shark are all escapism shows but you don't watch them so they get cancelled so what the hell do you want i know they say folk are fickle but this is madness oh ye all the shows mentioned i really liked
| 16:05 EST, 05 Mar, 2009
I'm waiting to see what 03-19 has to offer because imo episode 18 brought the whole series back.
| 15:48 EST, 05 Mar, 2009
Phew... Heroes is back! I was rly worried there for a minute (and for a good reason)
| 15:09 EST, 05 Mar, 2009
