Reality Invasion! I'd Rather Gouge My Eyes Out Than Watch... - Featured

There's definitely some good summer reality TV. For me, this includes So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef Masters, and I'm even warming up to The Fashion Show (Bravo's shameless Project Runway copy upon losing the show to Lifetime Television).

Then...there's the other stuff.

So, we've decided that it would be fun to put to a collective SideReel vote what is the absolute worst excuse for a reality TV show that somehow managed to end up on television? As the title states, you'd basically rather gouge your eyes out than sit through an episode of...

Some possible options:

I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!

Jon & Kate plus 8 (dear god I have heard enough about these 2 clowns...)

Hitched or Ditched

Real World: Cancun

The Superstars

Here Come the Newlyweds

Wipeout

I Survived a Japanese Game Show

More to Love (coming soon...basically The Bachelor with overweight people)

Big Brother 11

NYC Prep

Comment with your selection.

Feel free to nominate a different show than the ones listed here or to renominate a show that has already been mentioned.

Have fun identifying the bottom feeders of summer television!

Dont hate me but i actually like big brother! I think the mind games and techniques each person uses in the house is very interesting to watch. Its like a huge social experiment. I absolutely loved BB10. I agree that I'm a celebrity get me out of here is probably the one of the worst shows ever. Its a shame that its on tv. That show should be banned! The hills i used to like...before heidi and spencer. It was about friends learning about themselves and growing into adults together. Instead its been turned into a huge fake joke...even more so now that Lauren left. I definitely think it should get cancelled and maybe some actual good shows that have been cancelled should take its place. However, The award for the crappiest reality show ever goes to the bachelor and the bachelorette. They are staged. Some of the people in them are actually actors and none of it is real. Most of the couples break up after the show. i dont and will never understand how people watch and believe all that nonsense. It really amazes me how some of this garbage stays on tv while the really good stuff dies away. Makes me wonder what kinda idiots watch tv!

NYC Prep is by far the most disturbing show I have ever seen. It is by far the most obvious example of terrible television, and the disaster that is the next generation.

i'm a celebrity(almost) get me out of here is soooooooooooo pathetic. watching all these people grovel and look like shit while begging shamelessly 4 a morsel of d public attention. if they had real celeb pulling power they wldn't need all that.

the only thing worse than The Hills is its dumb spin-offs.... though my answer to what is the worst is all of the above...

@ak10 if you think The Hills and the obnoxious fame that has come from it is bad, watch the first episode of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!. Spencer from The Hills put on quite a show about how big of a celebrity he thinks he is and how big of a jerk he really is!

The Hills is absolutely the worst thing to happen to the world in a long time. It goes, #1 The Holocaust, #2 The Hills. Whats even worse is the number of people who seem to love that show. For one it isn't even a little bit reality, it is more scripted than Curb Your Enthusiasm and then the amount of fame these people have gotten from it is down right offensive. Terrible actors being terrible people on screen to get there 15 minutes, enough already. The worst sticom ever made is 10000% better than any of these reality show jokes. Please stop watching them or this is exactly the kind of garbage networks are going to keep shoveling you.

I have to agree with T-Bone that Big Brother is the worst of all. Here, we not only get the normal shows, but we get recap shows, late night (uncensored) shows, specials, and more. It makes you want to hurl. How is it that great television (Journeyman, Jericho, Lipstick Jungle) is cancelled, and this garbage stays on and thrives?

"Big Brother" is just "The Real World" without the beautiful people or interesting setting. Definitely the worst.

I'm already offended by More to Love, though it's possible I'll give it a chance. So far, though, my most hated I did try out was Hitched or Ditched. It's just painful to watch people have awful break-ups on TV, much more than watching people "fall in love" and get their hearts broken in a few weeks on The Bachelor.
