"Guardian Angel" is just the latest episode of Wolverine and the X-Men that'll make you wish the series' creators had left Wolverine's name out of the title. The episode focuses on Angel, and as has often been the case throughout the X-Men's history in comics, television and film, the character does a tremendous job of showcasing the central plight of the mutant race in the Marvel Universe.
Is the mutant gene a curse or a gift? This question seems to surround Angel more than any other X-Men character besides maybe Rogue, and it's one that's again brought to the forefront when Angel is summoned by the X-Men and told that his father and Senator Kelly are close to releasing the cure of the mutant gene. This sends Angel into a fit of rage, and following a heated philosophical argument with his father, Angel is attacked by the MRD with disastrous results - the loss of his wings.
