Star Wars: The Clone Wars - "Grievous Intrigue" Review Season 2, Episode 9

The Clone Wars is really on a roll right now. Another in a run of extremely solid episodes, "Grievous Intrigue" brought the droid general back for the first time this season, and in the process, gave him his best episode yet.

I felt like Dave Filoni and his team -- not to mention this episode's awesome writer, Ben Edlund (creator of The Tick and a writer on Firefly, Angel and Supernatural) -- really had thought about how to portray Grievous here, as they rather skillfully managed to blend together several interpretations of the character. Revenge of the Sith described Grievous as a coward, and while we saw his collection of lightsabers and understood the dark implication, he never really seemed that credible a threat - especially since the only Jedi we truly saw him fight, Obi-Wan, beat him. Some fans were upset that Grievous wasn't more of a bad ass รข€“ and in line with his portrayal in the earlier Star Wars: Clone Wars animated shorts.
