Chuck: "Chuck Versus The Pink Slip" Early Review Season 3, Episode 1


At last, Chuck has returned! The show's fate was a bit worrisome last spring, but thanks to a big fan campaign (powered by Subway sandwiches), a new season is here.


I'm going to avoid any major spoilers, but for those who don't want to know anything at all about the premiere, I'll just say right off the bat – the premiere is very fun and delivers the same mix of humor, action and romance the series has become increasingly good at delivering in one fell swoop.


Season 3 begins six months after the big events that closed out Season 2, as Chuck found himself with the Intersect 2.0 in his head, and discovered the physical abilities that came with it. Right off the bat, we get an idea of how these new abilities can work, and there's no doubt that seeing Chuck able to actually kick some ass is incredibly gratifying and makes for plenty of easy to root for moments. Zachary Levi has done a great job at playing Chuck the nerd so far, and that's certainly a core aspect of his character still. But Levi also proves that he can credibly turn on the action hero side of the character too…
