Grey's Anatomy 5.22: 'What a Difference a Day Makes' Rundown - Featured

The 100th episode of Grey's Anatomy opens with an Izzie (Katherine Heigl) voiceover, except, it's not really a voiceover because we see her in her hospital bed, wearing a scarf on her head, whispering her monologue to someone we can't see. She looks very weary and cancery, and she's talking about big days. The days that start out normal but end big are the biggest kinds of days. While she talks, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) are at the church where they will be getting married at the end of the day. That's how their day will end, but they are starting the day by going to work, because if we have learned nothing about these people, it is that they are workaholics.

Callie (Sara Ramirez) wakes up the at the hospital and complains to Cristina (Sandra Oh) that since is po' now, she has to pick up extra shifts in the ER. Also, she apparently had a really romantic date with Arizona last night at a fancy-schmancy restaurant that she can no longer afford, and bailed on her after dinner to work the ER. Cristina, thinking that she needed to clear out of the apartment to give Callie and Arizona some space, also slept at the hospital and is terribly cranky as a result.

Izzie is super-excited to be going to the wedding today. She tells Bailey (Chandra Wilson) that she feels fine and that she must go to the wedding because (a), she's a bridesmaid, (b) she planned it from start to finish and (c) it is her dream wedding. (Oh, please, there are so many heavy-handed hints, aren't there? I'm pretty sure I know how this episode will end.) Alex (Justin Chambers) is concerned that her blood pressure isn't where it should be. Once they both leave the room, Izzie notices that her hair is starting to fall out. But you know what? Girlfriend had brain surgery, so she should have been shaved bald by now anyway. Then, Denny shows up again, causing Izzie much distress. She knows that there must be another tumor in her brain.

I was just thinking about Izzies daughter, who also has cancer... Surely if shes going to die, she should at least contact the adoptive parents and tell them what is happening. Im sure her daughter would want to see her before she passes away, or she might regret it later for the rest of her life.
