The highly-anticipated The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes was a topic of conversation during yesterday's Marvel Animation panel at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2).Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada and Director of Development Josh Fine revealed details, character designs, and a short trailer for the series, giving fans a much-appreciated first look at the 'toon hitting Disney XD this fall (an exact premiere date is yet to be announced).
"If you've been a fan of Marvel Animation for any amount of time, this is bigger than anything we've ever done," noted Fine. "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, it's really the classic Avengers show that you've been waiting for all your life because there's never really been one that I would say fit the Avengers mold very well. As you can see by our poster, it's the original team we're going with."
Indeed, the Avengers roster - as seen in action in the trailer - consists of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Ant Man, Wasp, and Black Panther. It looks as if they are pulled together by none other than Nick Fury himself (a younger, fully coiffed version of the Samuel L. Jackson incarnation) after one of four supervillain prisons experiences a major breakout. Quick action shots ensue revealing a number of the show's villains (outlined below) as well as verification that Hank Pym will actually be sporting both his Ant Man and Giant Man personas in the series. Perhaps the biggest reveal was just how big a role Asgardian villains (like Loki and the Enchantress) look to play in the series.
