This episode will get you hooked to 24 for sure.
When I first watched this episode back in 2003, I didn't have very high expectations. The pilot episode wasn't what you'd call "appealing", more or less I expected the same from this, being only the second one. However, when I was done watching this episode, I could hardly catch my breath. This episode had all the necessary ingredients to make it a great 24 episode; a precursor to the what would be coming next.
This episode starts off slowly. At first we get to know the antagonists a little better; they appear to have plethora of resources at their disposal. But their intentions are kept secret and remain unclear in this episode. Then all of the a sudden, action switches to the shootout with Walsh in the plaza and Jack running against the ticking clock to help him. Apparently, Walsh has been handed over some really sensitive data and somebody doesn't want him to know what it is all about.
The sequence that follows, between Jack, Walsh and the assailants is the talking point of this episode and a show-stealer. Somehow the 24 team managed to pull off one of the best Season 1 action sequences in only the second episode. The ending, with the BIG reveal of the mole inside CTU is also, just a harbinger of things to come.
In my opinion, this episode will draw you in. It has a great atmosphere around it.
