Since when did Megavideo enforce a viewing quota + charge to remove it?

Ok, I hope I'm not the only one a bit annoyed about this. So, up until today, I always thought megavideo was one of the good websites to look for to watch whatever tv show. Even if you had to deal with the 3-4 second lag between the video and the sound, it was manageable. But it was always hard to find a megavideo link when it was one of the better links to chose. However, now I apparently wasted 40 minutes of my quota by checking different mega video links in hopes of finding one that didn't lag, only to find that I need to wait to continue watching or pay for a premium membership. Honestly, its not even like the video quality was worth paying for! Why would I ever pay for a video with a lag? Is anyone else annoyed by this? Plus, what other links would you suggest to avoid megavideo (since now there are megavideo links under basically every site). Perhaps the uploaders could chose to upload to a different website. :/ I have to say, I'm disappointed in megavideo.

Sorry for the rant, I just got cut off in the middle of my episode, and I'm basically forced to wait till tomorrow to watch it. Not very fun.

3-4 second lag Tip Hi, some of you asked about the second lag, here you have one tip I open 2 windows with the same chapter, one with sound and the other without it(mute) , I sincronize them, I pause one of them until the sound of one window matches the video of the other window. Doing this you dont have that Lag. Try it! The only thing that I cant avoid is the megavideo time:(

you can easily manipulate megavideo, even without using realplayer its under the "guides" page, something to do with the IP and cookie tracking

I think megavideo sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anybody know where I can watch season 3 episodes 7-12 that aren't megavideo???

If you are using Firefox as your browser, you can install an extension called DownloadHelper. (Just google 'download helper') This will allow you to download any streaming flash movies, including ones from Megavideo. Good luck everyone!

I downloaded RealPlayer in order to evade Megavideo's policing of watching time, but when I start the video and pause it (from the site), I don't see an option to download it to the player (even when I right-click). Anyone?

I think megavideo sucks now.. i would very much like to stop using it but like 6 out of 10 links are megavideo.. i try megastic as an alternative but the option is not always on and it takes longer to load.. there should be more options!! what ever happened to youku and stuff??upload links to players OTHER than sucky megavideo.. give us options! thanks..

I too was in a middle of my show when I was cut off. If I were to put a show on pause and go get a drink, is my Megavideo "time" still running? PeacE!

Megavideo disgusts me now. I dont know where they get off trying to charge people to watch videos that other people upload, usually out of sync, and mostly stuff that's not copyrighted. If someone does load something copyrighted it gets removed... Why would someone pay to watch other peoples non-copyrighted uploads? Haven't they heard of youtube? Cos they won that war a long time ago. If you want to charge people, let them upload things like Dexter, House, Smallville, Prison Break etc etc.

Ah, I'm still having trouble with watching stuff on megavideo, when using RealPlayer it happens that I get only 3/4 of a show and for the rest I still need to load up the movie in the browser, very often still not being able to finish it because I need to wait 54min... Real annoying, maybe I should try the sandwich method ;)

please ask the mods to ban megavideo until they get their act together!

i think if everyone was to upload to zshare or supernovatube we would be better off i admit megavideo was in the the top 5 but it going down a few pegs and lately zshare and supernovatube have been awesome

what about the sound lag, any ways to avoid it?
| 07:21 EST, 01 Dec, 2008
I found that and just refreshed the page and then started watchin from were i was originally and it let me no problems at all so maybe try that as well

Hey Thank you Stevekim it work
| 16:37 EST, 30 Nov, 2008
I had that wait 2 hours or pay message once I waited the 2 hours and watched other things then kept watching and it has never come back on me. I'm also loving the new megavideo I think they fixed some of the lag issues and just the quality is better for me.

No, I meant on the MV player. I won't install Real because of the adware and the near inability to remove it completely from a computer. On the MV, just load, watch half, come back in 10 or so, and watch the other half.
| 12:24 EST, 30 Nov, 2008
You mean when it's already on the Realplayer? Watch it halfway, take a break and when I come back it should be all good? I thought it just didn't fully download.
| 11:49 EST, 30 Nov, 2008
Try watching the movie halfway or so, and pause the movie while you take a break of at least 10 minutes (make a sandwich ;)). When you come back, you should be able to view the rest of the movie. It seems to be how long you watch, not how long it streams. Worked for me, anyway. YMMV.
| 07:15 EST, 30 Nov, 2008
But when you pause it and you start downloading the video, it still needs to load up fully for you to be able to download it and just the loading up of the video seems to use up the quota, isn't that right? Sometimes I don't even get the full episode down, because it stops showing after sometime, because after that many minutes the quota is used up.

Great! I never thought of that either! I had seen the icon there, but am always a little suspicious of downloading updates from unknown sites. Will give that a go next time, thanks again.
| 13:04 EST, 29 Nov, 2008
yes i do that all the timei start my router again but u just can watch 2 episodes full and then u have to do it again.... the realplayer thing is a much better idea
| 08:57 EST, 29 Nov, 2008
You can also reset your ip address and delete all your cookies, thats what I do
| 08:56 EST, 29 Nov, 2008
thanks i didnt thought about that.. its a good point thank u
| 05:59 EST, 29 Nov, 2008
Yeah its true stevekim, i used that method.

You can get round this by downloading the latest free Realplayer.Start the Mega video then pause it. You should see a 'download to realplayer' window, or rightclick the video. Start the download to Realplayer. you can then close the Mega link and the download will continue. Takes maybe 10 /12 mins to download then you can watch it in Realplayer. This way you don't use up the imposed quota.Good viewing!
