'Friday Night Lights' Season 5, Episode 2 Recap


After last week's triumphant return for 'Friday Night Lights,' including the Lions winning in dramatic fashion on the football field, tonight's episode was decidedly different. No game to discuss, no poignant goodbyes. In fact, there seemed to be an undercurrent of dissatisfaction among many of the characters. 

As the title suggests, being on the outside is uncomfortable and annoying. Discomfort is what this show had going for it. For more on the downer mood and the air of discontent, read on.

If there's one thing you can count on with Coach Taylor (Kyle Chandler), it's that he's level headed. The coaching staff yammered about rankings and state championships, but Eric knew that one win meant nothing in the big picture. His job was to keep his eyes on the prize.
