Star Wars: The Clone Wars - "Evil Plans" Review

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - 2008 Tv series Season 3 Episode 8 - Evil Plans

This was a somewhat odd episode. A strange mixture that contained some silly humor, some fun interaction between a classic Star Wars duo, and some intriguing looks at a part of the saga we were only somewhat familiar with before.

I'm not quite sure what to make of the Droid Spa R2-D2 went to. On one hand, it was a very sci-fi element and felt like something out of A.I. or another story focusing on an increasingly robotic world. On the other hand, it didn't feel like a natural part of the Star Wars universe, as nothing we've seen before has hinted anyone would put such extravagance into droid pampering on such a scale. That being said, I am a sucker for seeing R2-D2 submerged, using his little scope to see, a la Empire Strikes Back.

This was the first time we got a major look at the R2-D2/C-3PO dynamic on this series, as the two often appear in episodes without each other. It definitely brings back fond memories seeing these two interact, even as I was distracted by this being yet another part of this extended prequel to the episode "Hostage Crisis." However, it was hard not to get a nice, "Aww" feeling when Artoo heard Threepio was going to be dismantled, and let himself be found in order to stop this from happening. They love each other!
