Sparks Fly During a Lighting Ceremony on 'Ellen' (VIDEO)

'Tis the season for electrical fires! Ellen DeGeneres lights a string of garland to commemorate the start of the "12 Days of Giveaways" on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' (weekdays, syndicated). But, things go horribly awry when there's a short circuit and sparks fly.

After DeGeneres plugs the string in, brilliant sparks run along the length of the garland and the studio begins to fill with smoke. Eventually, she traces the cause of the short circuit to a hair crimper left behind by DJ Tony Okungbowa.

"When you're done with it, unplug it. Now we've blown a fuse," DeGeneres said, brandishing the crimper at the DJ.
