Nikita: "Free" Review

And so we begin the second half of Nikita: Season 1. On a personal note, I can't tell you how glad I am to have this show back on the air. It's been too long a wait. "Free" picked up where we left off before the hiatus, with Alex being promoted to Division agent and enjoying all the perks of her new status: new car, new clothes, new apartment and new cute neighbor across the hall. Although we didn't get as many twists as we're used to (aside from the final scene), the degree of difficulty in this episode was much higher than normal. "Free" had to establish what the new rules were for Alex within Division, what the next phase was for her and Nikita, and the episode had to work as a jumping-on point for new viewers. Also, per orders from up above, it had to amp up the "CW-ness" of the show.
