PARENTHOOD “Amazing Andy and His Wonderful World of Bugs” Review

PARENTHOOD "Amazing Andy and His Wonderful World of Bugs" Season 2 Episode 16 – Adam and Kristina get a glimpse into a possible future for Max, Crosby does something that will probably change his future, and Drew grows closer to his father in the "Amazing Andy" episode of PARENTHOOD. Oh, and Julia and Joel once again get the short end of the ovulation test stick, storyline-wise.

There’s just something about seeing Michael Emerson on my TV that makes me grin. He’s terrific as Amazing Andy, and I love that Kristina and Adam get to see a functioning, happy sometimes adult with Asperger’s, even if it takes them a while to realize that’s what he is. "He’s the weirdest person I’ve ever met." I love this. It is so easy to accept what is in your life as right and normal and then to see something similar out in the world and reject it for being strange. I think this story is handled beautifully: We see the nightmare it can be raising a child with Asperger’s or autism with all the special arrangements, violent tantrums, and worry and then we see the very, very cool Amazing Andy as a goal to work toward. I wonder what Max will call his bug show. This is a great episode for Kristina, too. She never over-reacts, but every emotion flits across her face and she’s too funny holding the stuffed cricket like a baby. Read More...
