V: "Siege" Review

"Siege" was a great, fairly intense episode that moved the entire storyline forward in big, broad ways. Yes, there were some numbskull-ish moments, but having the entire episode focus on one event and then seeing it through to the end was a good way to bring about some of the change that this show needed. I am in no way going to claim to be the only one who could see Joe getting killed a mile and a half away. I'm sure all of you, from the momentErica and Joe looked at each other lovingly as they packed for their biker trip, knew that he was a goner. I'm still not exactly surehow he got caught in the crossfire when it looked like the FBI and the Column dudes weren't shooting anywhere near him, but we'll just leave that one be. Because if Erica was going to have a love interest on this series -- and we're still not sure if she ever will -- it would not be with her ex-husband. That's just not the way TV works. Now all we need is forJack to "soldier up," lose his chastity and make a move on her. Erica's resolve at the end of this episode was great, almost as if she now had the unfortunate luxury of writing Tyler off. As if she knew she'd lost him and was now free to act a little more "Eli" with her Fifth Column tactics. No, it's not as if she'll start bombing innocent people, but I can't wait for this team to make more smart, calculating moves that actually make a difference. Still, this is all just a good set up. Whether any of it pays off is up to next few episodes.  Read More...
