‘Gossip Girl,’ Season 4, Episode 20, ‘The Princess and the Frog’: TV Recap

Once upon a time, there was a fabulous show called "Gossip Girl."

There were evil villains, dressed in sparkly gowns and bossing around maids with doilies on their heads. There were fairy princesses, who slept around a lot during boarding school, but became blond perfect goddesses to be worshiped by poor boys from Brooklyn. The wicked were so wicked they were good, particularly when they did wicked things together (known as devious plans) and the good people were silly and enjoyable.

But then the tale became twisted and waterlogged and mushy. All the good and bad people mixed, and the devious plans because crazy and predictable, and there were so many balls the 12 dancing ladies got tired of wearing out their slippers and stayed home to watch celebrities dance instead.

And that leaves us here, in Season 4, Episode 20 of "Gossip Girl."

Blair is dashing after her French Prince of Bel Air. His parents just don’t understand. Serena is wandering about the city, wishing for her lonely Brooklyn boy to come back. Again. Nate the dashing has become Lord Slackity, because we cannot figure out what the heck he is doing with his life except sleeping with Chuck’s castoffs. And Chuck stands alone.
