Cars 2's John Lasseter

"With Cars 2, we set out to tell a story that was very, very different than the original. In doing sequels at Pixar, we only do a sequel when we come up with a great story for the characters in that world. We don't just do it to print money like most studios do. We really want to tell a great story, and I came up with a story idea when going around doing publicity for Cars," said John Lasseter, Chief Creative Office of Pixar, during an exclusive interview last week at the animation studio's headquarters in Emeryville, Ca. "I had Cars' characters on the brain as I was traveling over to Japan and around the world doing publicity and I kept finding myself as I was looking out the window traveling these cities and laughing at what would Mater do in these places? What wouldLightning McQueen do? What would Lightning McQueen do with Mater in this town?
