CHUCK “Chuck Versus The Last Details” Review

CHUCK "Chuck Versus The Last Details" Season 4 Episode 23 – It’s the penultimate of Chuck (possibly ever) and it was also one of the best episodes of the season. Ellie and Awesome (and kind of Jeffster) plan Chuck and Sarah’s pre-wedding party while Chuck and his crew head off to Columbia to rescue Chuck’s mother who has been captured by Vivian Volkoff.

The episode was crammed with a lot of things, which at times made it feel a little clunky. On the other hand it did not suffer from the crappy first half syndrome which has plagued Chuck for many an episode. The first half of this episode dealt largely with Chuck and Sarah’s relationship. It was sweet, it was screwball. Zachary Levi and Yvonne Strahovski always had great chemistry and body language to match the dialogue. I especially loved the McGuffin: The Norseman, a device which can use the DNA of its subject to identify and kill them, whether they’re in a crowd or on the other side of the globe. It’s a freaking scary device, and once it was introduced I realized what was going to happen with it. I realized once Vivian killed off the bigshots in the council of evil that she could then use the Norseman against one of Chuck’s loved ones. It’s a golden rule of storytelling: if everyone is happy and having a grand ole’ time, as they were at the pre-wedding party, the shit is going to hit the fan. Read More...
