‘Game of Thrones,’ Season 1, Episode 8, ‘The Pointy End’: TV Recap

Oh man oh man. This was a great episode. No coincidence that it was written by George R.R. Martin himself. You can’t play sudoku and watch this show. You can’t look away. You can’t mute it for a second. Just when you think you can breathe, you can’t. War is ON, on several fronts; the white-walkers are out and about; Ned’s in jail, and Dany is fierce (even Drogo notices). Everyone is in this now!

Pluses: Rickon (the littlest Stark) speaks! Just three words, but they are well-chosen. Osha says some words of wisdom (her hair’s calmed down a little). Robb struts his stuff as a commander; Samwell struts his; Direwolves appear and Khal Drogo and Dany light up my life (she’s still the Moon of His Life, and He’s her Sun and Stars); and the Imp’s in excellent form.

Minuses: Let me think.
