Should Survey Link Sites be banned ?

Recently many survey link sites are spamming sidereel tvshow pages like fringe, privileged, sons of anarchy, bones, smallville, Project Runway and the list is endless. These site owners delete all working links of recent episodes and post their own link, where user is forced to fill out the survey in order to see the episode. For specific purpose they use short URL or tiny URL so that their site urls changes every time and could not be banned. Even some users post the same links with different tiny URLs. We think that these users and their sites should be banned permanently from sidereel or otherwise only moderators are to be allowed to delete links from pages. We would like to know everyone's opinion about this. Please give your opinion and let Sidereel Team be aware of this issue.

delete / ban either way. I also think links should be only deleted by authorised people. Admins or users who earn this thru time on the service and trust earned. If they then do the wrong thing take the access away. There are too many people deleting links for the only reason than to put theirs first.

I agree they are so annoyin but they cnt ban it if theyr always usin different urls So if everyone deletes them as they come across them it would make it better for everyone :D.

Yes please!Adding annoying spam links is one thing, but deleting other functional links is another. I believe the moderaters being the only ones allowed to delete links could be a very reasonable solution. Hope you can solve this for us sooner rather than later.Good luck.

YES!!! please Ban them!and about the deleting thing maybe if insted of having the ability of deleting links we could request a delete (with a reason, of course) and than someone could supervise this and see if it's valid or not.

When I end up clicking on one, I just delete it. They shouldn't be allowed to post their links.

Agree with banning them. I wouldn't say remove the ability to delete links, because sometimes when I add a link I add it to the wrong spot so the delete allows me to correct a mistake I make. What about at least having people provide a reason for a delete. Would be good to know why it was deleted. Then, SideReel would also know why things were being deleted.

Yes ban them I've always closed outta the site as soon as the survey pops up. I've seen on 2 or 3 links under a single episode. So please BAN them.
| Sep 23, 2008 2:51PM EDT
ban them please
| Sep 23, 2008 11:55AM EDT
absolutely.
| Sep 23, 2008 9:55AM EDT
I agree to banning them. As the others said, they are very irritating, misleading and a complete waste of time. Besides, these websites shouldn't be making money off our traffic if they are not gonna give us what we want from them in the first place.
| Sep 22, 2008 8:31AM EDT
Yes BAN them!
| Sep 22, 2008 2:55AM EDT
Hellz yes.
| Sep 21, 2008 10:25PM EDT
I completely agree! They waste our time and are very irritating. I have never tried one of their surveys and don't intend to. I think they should be banned altogether.

Ban! Ban! Ban!
| Sep 21, 2008 8:33PM EDT
yea please, please ban them because its irritating! its always been a problem esp to those of us who live outside the usa, pretty annoying the way survey sites pop up, & bcoz i really want to watch the episode , i try the survey, i think ive tried it like 2-3 times, & i just got frustrated because it doesnt work out the way i want it to, the shows never "show" up.... i thought it only happens to me, but apparently not, so please ban these sites.

Most of the survey sites you are referring to are through CPA Lead. These are not allowed on SideReel. If you see any of these sort of sites, please report them to spamsucks@sidereel.com and we will ban them. Also feel free to delete links of those types.
| Sep 21, 2008 6:50PM EDT
Theres only really one answer... YES! I got so frustrated that I actually attempted a survey to watch it once and it still didn't work! Ban the people who post the links.
| Sep 21, 2008 6:26PM EDT
I agree, At first i tried it filled in the survey and still could not enter.Delete all these links if they come up.
| Sep 21, 2008 5:59PM EDT
Yes banned I do agree. I posted this same theory in the Burn after reading discussion.
| Sep 21, 2008 5:33PM EDT
i fill in the surveys and never receive access to sites- has anyone actually successfuly used these sites 2 view an episode? the ppl. who post these sites please ont reply 2 this. i think members should make group effort that if they ever see such a link- delete it themselves. i do this- it pisses them off
| Sep 21, 2008 5:25PM EDT
please ban them immediatelyand i delete it whenever i seethe best example is trueblood episode 3 was posted before i was aired and it is not even leaked on internet, it is spam
| Sep 21, 2008 4:23PM EDT
agreed! these sites are ALL over sidereel and I hate it! why isn't this discussion under the Spam Sucks page?
| Sep 21, 2008 3:41PM EDT
YES. These sites are awful and misleading. Please ban them.
| Sep 21, 2008 3:36PM EDT
You should ban them! The few times that I have been stupid enough to access these pages and carry out the survey, i have not been able to access the episode afterwards. It is just another way for marketing companies to get your details and sell them on to the highest bidder. Also, we should be wary of identity fraud with these sites, especially when giving personal information like your date of birth and address. I always delete these links if i see them and i advise others to do so aswell!

This is a problem I've noticed and it annoys me a lot. I f a link sends me to a site that tells me I have to fill in a survey I tend to delete it. I agree that these sites should be banned.
