Bellflower - Review

MASS DESTRUCTION Flame-thrower in Bellflower

Evan Glodell, the director and star of this lavishly lurid youthquake psychodrama, has a true filmmaker's voice. Shot in a druggy daze of late-afternoon sun, the movie starts as a fever dream about Woodrow (Glodell) and Aiden (Tyler Dawson), two buddies fueled by their obsession with the Mad Max films. They're building a flamethrower (it really works), but when Woodrow falls for Milly (Jessie Wiseman), a sexy-sincere femme fatale, the testosterone nihilism gets drenched in romantic doom.Bellflower is stylishly watchable — even when it's preposterous. B+
