The Real Housewives of New Jersey: New Year, Same Familial Drama

Last night's episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey wrung in the New Year's while trying to avoid wringing each other's necks. In short, it was a standard RHONJ episode.

One thing I have noticed while watching RHONJ this season was how most of the episodes have been holiday driven, like the Baby Christening, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and now New Years. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the pattern between holidays and family gatherings, but it also doesn't take a rocket scientist to see how Bravo has tried to use the holidays as a springboard for several dramatic fiascos this year. While I can't blame them for keeping the drama hot, I kind of wish it wasn't during a holiday where family matters. I've stressed my disappointment about how the show has used Teresa and Melissa's families as conflict gold this year, because when the cameras stop rolling, they will still have to deal with the ramifications that their fights have had on their families. It was one thing when Danielle Staub was stirring the pot, but it is another when you have to see this person at one of the kid's birthday parties when the production team is on hiatus.
