THE CLOSER “Forgive Us Our Trespasses” Review

THE CLOSER "Forgive Us Our Trespasses" Season 7 Episode 5 – Ten minutes into this episode, I had it all figured out. I knew who the killer was, I knew how he did it, I understood the reasons behind thecover up. It was a pretty clear cut case. All I needed was the motivation, and this episode would be washed out of my mind, and I would view it as a substandard episode of The Closer.

Then the show took a u-turn, a severe one, and completely threw me off my game. I turned out to be right – it was the son home from the military, which was pretty obvious thanks to some clumsy camerawork and writing, but his motives? I couldn’t imagine. I had no idea until the last five minutes what would happen, and I had no idea that this episode would suddenly swerve into gay politics amidst the turmoil of father son relationships and Christian intolerance and hypocrisy.

This is why The Closer ranks, for me, right up there with Medium, (though not quite as high as the latter, which was truly one of the most underappreciated, phantasmagorical cop shows – if you can even call it that – I’ve ever scene). Read More...
