Inu Yasha Final Act Season 1 Episode 14 Review: In Pursuit of Naraku

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)

Sesshomaru confronts Totosai with what he believes is his father's plan. He was to master Meido Zangetsuha in order for Tenseiga and the technique to be absorbed by Tetsusaiga. Totosai tells him that he is not seeing the long term plan; only when Sesshomaru frees himself from his preoccupation with swords and Inu Yasha will he see his father's true plan.

Elsewhere, Naraku is attempting to take Kohaku's head; this will allow him to slowly corrupt the shard in it. Inu Yasha and the rest finally work together to reach Kohaku in time. There, they learn that the rebuilt Hiraikotsu can mortally damage Naraku. Naraku flees to recover and plot against them, while Sango confronts Kohaku with a painful truth. He has neither the ability nor heart to continue fighting Naraku.

Seeing the group work together is both enjoyable yet frustrating. Teamwork is something they should be always employing at this point, yet it is only used as a convenient plot device. After all their battles and traveling, they should be barking out instructions to each other or simply flowing into each other's efforts seamlessly.
