Wolverine Anime: "Min" Review

We're at the midway point of this series and the best it can do is deliver a mediocre performance. Even a Cyclops cameo can't save it. But there are still some cool parts that keep this week's installment mildly interesting.

The episode starts with nice shots of the Blackbird as Cyclops lands. The mechanical design on the plane is actually fairly impressive. The exterior is done with a mix of traditional animation and 3D, and the interior is detailed enough to make it look nice. It's a good start to the episode, but things didn't progress much from there.

Cyclops is more of a smartass here than I expected. But the legendary animosity between him and Wolverine is present, as expected. It would've been nice to see Cyclops hang around a bit and serve up some sweet eye-beam action, but I understand that the writers probably didn't want to have old Scott upstageWolverine in his own show. That's sad for two reasons: one, that Cyclops could upstage Logan in this series, and two, they were right. With his strategic mind, awesome optic blasts, and general ambivalence towards Logan, a good Scott Summers would have definitely overshadowed this poor incarnation of Wolverine. But that is assuming that the writers would have done Cyclops better justice than Logan, and you know what happens when you make assumptions...
